Carey Murphy & Partners

A new generation law firm

The well-known law firms Edward B Carey & Co. of Marlboro Street Cork and Daniel Murphy & Co. of South Douglas Road, Cork, have merged their practices and will now trade under the banner of Carey Murphy & Partners. The new ‘next generation’ law firm will primarily focus on the provision of legal services to a young demographic of emerging entrepreneurs and career-orientated individuals.

Following the merger, solicitor Dan Murphy will join solicitors Ed Carey, Jane Garry and Carmel Howard as a partner in the new entity, which will be headquartered at 23 Marlboro Street, Cork. There will be no staff losses due to the merger.

Commenting on the merger Ed Carey told us:

"This is a very positive development for us. As young solicitors we have built up considerable empathy with our peers. The majority of our mutual clients are mostly people like us, building their enterprises, and starting on the property ladder. We understand where they are coming from and we are providing the legal services and moral support that is needed from day one. On the other hand, corporate entities on our books, which range from start-ups to well-established business houses, will appreciate the economies of scale this merger provides. The synergies between Dan’s firm and ours were obvious, and it was natural to expand our skills pool and reach to the ultimate benefit of our mutual clients."
